The ORCID–WACA Initiative, led by the West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN) with support from the ORCID Global Participation Fund, aims to increase the adoption and integration of ORCID across institutions in West and Central Africa. The project builds on WACREN's ongoing efforts to strengthen the use of Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) to enhance researcher visibility, institutional impact, and equitable participation in the global research ecosystem.
Through this call, 15 ambassadors will be selected from across West and Central Africa (Anglophone and Francophone regions) to promote ORCID awareness and adoption within their institutions and professional networks. Ambassadors will conduct workshops, support outreach activities, and actively participate in the ORCID–WACA Community of Practice (CoP).
The programme will run from February to July 2026, requiring an estimated 4–6 hours of engagement per month for workshops, outreach, and CoP activities. Ambassadors will receive:
- Mentorship and guidance from the ORCID–WACA team.
- Access to training and outreach materials.
- A modest stipend.
- An certificate of achievement and public recognition upon completion.
Please complete all sections of this form. Only fully completed applications submitted before the deadline will be considered.
Deadline: January 22, 2026
